Here we are in February...are you tired of winter yet? This year, the Ozarks has actually had some winter-type weather for the first time in a few years, keeping us at home and in the house.
With more time spent indoors, fewer daylight hours, less socializing and inclement weather, you might be feeling the winter blahs: lack of energy, maybe a few extra pounds - along with cravings for carbs like bread and pasta - and feeling lonely or bored. If this describes you, here are some easy things you can do to brighten up your outlook.
Try light therapy: Exposure to bright artificial light each day can help if you're feeling the blahs. When the sun chooses to come out, get outside and soak up some rays of the real thing.
Aerobic exercise: While you're outdoors on a sunny day, take a brisk walk. Or, if you're indoors, engage in activities that require lots of movement.
Interact with others: Visit with friends in person, on the phone or on social media.
Eat healthy: Fresh fruits and veggies provide vitamins and minerals that help you to feel more energetic. They'll also make you feel more full so you won't be tempted to eat the wrong thing.
